Invasive Species Field Day Jun 4, 2010
 This Hawkeye Cooperative Weed Management Association field day will focus on invasive plant species which threaten to negatively impact Iowa natural plant and animal communities. Sessions will focus on the identification of invasive plants, control methods and the efforts of others to thwart these invaders.

Two-day workshop -- Citizen Science: An Introduction to Insects Jun 18-19, 2010
 This workshop is designed as an introduction to insects. Learn how to discover, observe, and photograph them in the field; collection methods (sweep netting, pitfall trapping, baiting, night lighting); identification; and ecology.

The workshop is open to all, but most appropriate for ages 16 and up. Registration is $100, which includes an insect collection and preservation kit (participants take with them), workshop packet, lunches, and morning and afternoon breaks on both days. There will be an optional night-lighting and baiting activity on Friday evening. Registration deadline is June 4. The workshop is limited to 35 participants.

North American Prairie Conference Aug 1-5, 2010
 In keeping with the conference theme, "Restoring a National Treasure," there will be various opportunities to observe prairie restorations and reconstructions. Participants will be able to discuss the latest prairie research, explore remnant and restored prairies on field trips, and view local and national exhibits.
