Integrated roadside vegetation management means using cost-effective, environmentally-sound
practices to control weeds, manage brush and seed rights-of-way. A wide variety
of equipment is needed to accomplish these practices, and the Living Roadway Trust
Fund has helped Iowa's state and county transportation departments enhance their
IRVM programs by funding appropriate equipment.
The LRTF Advisory Committee has established
guidelines
for the type of equipment that will be funded. Occasionally funding is approved
for new types of equipment, based on suggestions and input from roadside managers
across the state. And Iowa's secondary road departments often experiment with modified
or specialized equipment to better accomplish their IRVM goals.
Reviews of certain specialized equipment are provided here by roadside managers
to help each other, and others, make informed decisions about IRVM equipment purchases.
Roadside vegetation and other natural resource managers are encouraged to submit
reviews about their own equipment, or provide comments about the reviews shown here.
Send reviews or comments to the state's
County IRVM Coordinator.
